Reasons to get Botox – Botox around the nose
Botulinum toxin treatments have been around for 30 years, originally used in 1977 to treat strabismus, an eye muscle problem. In 2002 the FDA approved the use of botulinum toxin (or Botox for short) for its current purpose, to treat wrinkles and fine lines, and millions of people around the world have been doing these treatments since.
While the most common areas are frown lines, Botox is now used to treat a number of areas. In this blog we discuss 3 good reasons to get some Botox around your nasal area.
Botox can treat Bunny Lines, which is when a horizontal wrinkle forms across the ridge, or at the side, of your nose. As its name suggests, this line can give the appearance of a bunny’s nose. Which is all well and good if you’re a bunny, but not so great when you’re a human. The treatment involves botulinum toxin injections high up on outer aspect of the nose, away from the fold of skin where the nose meets the cheek.
Reason number two is the tip of the nose. A treatment of botulinum toxin can counteract the natural drooping of the tip of the nose which occurs with ageing. A small dose of botulinum toxin into the tip of the nose can help lift the tip and ensure the nostrils are not constricted.
A final reason is a repeated nasal flare, which some of our clients’ experience. This a widening of the nostril (flaring) which occurs while breathing – and can be brought on under extreme circumstances like vigorous exercise or mood changes such as anger or embarrassment. A treatment of botulinum toxin above the outer flares of the nostrils has shown proven success and treats the muscles causing the flare.
