L3 CPD Principles of Cosmetic Practice for Aesthetic Practitioners

Who is this course for?

Designed for beginners and non-medics, the L3 CPD Principles of Cosmetic Practice for Aesthetic Practitioners programme provides an entry level qualification into the Beauty and Aesthetics industry.

This course is only suitable for students aged 18 and over.

Course Overview

Learners will develop a broad understanding in a range of topics, including health and safety in aesthetics practice, communication and consultation, client assessment and skin analysis, and anatomy and physiology for skin treatments. Everything you need to progress onto the next level of aesthetics education.

This is a non-regulated qualification catering for non-medical professionals. This course is for those working towards a career in aesthetics and skin rejuvenation, without following the traditional beautician route. Learners who successfully achieve this qualification will be able to progress onto a foundation aesthetics programme.

What does the course involve?

To achieve this non-regulated qualification learners must pass all 4 mandatory units.

  1. Principles of Health and Safety in Aesthetic Practice
    2. Principles of Communication and Consultation
    3. Principles of Client Assessment and Skin Analysis
    4. Principles of Anatomy and Physiology for Skin Treatments

First Aid Course Components:

– General First Aid
– External Bleeding
– Allergic Reactions and Anaphylaxis
– Eye Injury
– Recovery Position CPR
– Medicine Interactions
– Hepatitis B Virus

Total Qualification Time (TQT) – 6-8 weeks

This is an estimate of the time we expect for a student to achieve and demonstrate the level of understanding necessary to pass the course. The student must achieve all the learning outcomes to be awarded the qualification.

This includes 16 hours pre-study and online learning for First Aid.

The minimum time of completion is 6 weeks before a student can move on to any aesthetic courses.

Entry Requirements

Prospective students should already be working in or aspiring to join the beauty industry. We’ll also require evidence to show your capability of working at Level 2 or above, this includes GCSE Mathematics and English qualifications at grades A*-C/ 4-9, Functional Skills or Essential Skills in Mathematics and English, or equivalent qualifications.

It is also recommended (but not required) that prospective learners have completed a recognised first aid at work qualification within the three years prior to enrolment.

Progression

Following successful completion of the course, students can progress to studying injectable aesthetic treatments such as Foundation Dermal Fillers and Foundation Anti-Wrinkle
